Corian whorl wheels (MACH III, Hopper, Firefly, Echo, King Bee, Queen Bee) were manufactured after 2015 until they were replaced by the GOLDEN WHORL. The ratios are perfect for spinning yarn weights from fine to extra bulky. 

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

CORIAN WHORLS have ratios from about 1:4 to 1:20 (exact range varies per wheel model).

GOLDEN WHORLS have the same ratio range as corian whorls + fast ratios between 1:25 to 1:60 (exact range varies per wheel model) for spinners who want to explore the limits of superfine spinning.

GOLDEN WHORLS have less flyer drag to make spinning short-staple fibers (like cotton) effortless. 

If you have a Hopper and want to add a size to your wheel, you will need to purchase a CORIAN WHORL Upgrade from your Dealer, as the Hoppers are not compatible with GOLDEN WHORL engineering.

The SpinOlution Lazy Kate fits all bobbin sizes except the 64 oz. It can be placed on the floor for easy plying next to all of our wheels, or attached to the MACH III, Echo, and Firefly. Plying with the Kate attached is easiest when bobbins or plying threads are on the outermost rods of the Kate.

We also have a Lazy Kate that attaches exclusively to the Hopper as well.

The skein winder can wind both 1 & 2 yard skeins. It can be inserted onto the MACH III, Echo, Firefly, Hopper, and King Bee on any setup 8 oz or larger - just like a bobbin. It cannot be inserted into a 4 oz setup because it is too wide, and it cannot be inserted into the 12 oz setup because it is too long.

The skein winder will lock into place on the 8 oz flyer - as it is the same size as an 8 oz bobbin. Secure it with the magnetic orifice bar on the 8 oz setup, as well as the 16 & 32.  

The skein winder is included in the Echo, Hopper, Firefly, and MACH III Package Deals. 

The skein winder comes apart into two pieces and lays flat for easy storage and transportation.

The Niddy Noddy can wind both 1 & 2 yard skeins. The size is best for unwinding skeins from our 4 oz & 8 oz bobbins. For larger skeins (16 oz & 32 oz bobbins) we recommend the skein winder accessory. Our niddy noddy is portable, with easy carrying handles, and made from baltic birch.

The niddy noddy is not included in Package Deals.

This orifice allows you the freedom to spin any weight of yarn, including super bulky or embellished art yarns, without getting trapped or snagged in your orifice. We also have a tube orifice bar available as an accessory to your order. If you would prefer a tube orifice bar with your wheel instead of a hook - simply include that request to your dealer and we will note it on your order.

ACCELERATED....

Many of our fine-spinning customers requested higher ratios, so we designed a head upgrade with a built-in accelerator for short staple spinning. As far as we know, these are the highest ratios available on upright wheels in the industry today. 

ECHO accelerated ratio goes up to 1:40

FIREFLY accelerated ratio is variable 

This upgrade is available as a 4 oz size only. When you are spinning at such high speeds, the smaller the bobbin - the better the performance. Also, since these speeds are for spinning the finest of yarns, a 4 oz bobbin is perfectly adequate for those weights.

64 OZ.. it's BIG

It can fit over 4 pounds of worsted weight single. It was originally designed for the Firefly, as a production unit for spinning and plying bulk quantities of yarn. It also fits the MACH III - although most spinners prefer using the electric Firefly base to power the momentum, rather than treadling this workhorse manually.

This setup is great for the fiber artist who wants all the yardage they could ever dream of. It is perfect for making huge art yarn and bulky skeins, but engineered to spin fine yarns as well. 

What types of yarn can I spin on the 64 oz? Our test spinners were able to spin worsted to super bulky. Due to the high tension required to pull heavier yarns onto the bobbin, this setup is not appropriate for spinning fine weight yarns. This is the only setup size in our collection that is not able to spin all weights of yarn. 

What is the momentum like on this upgrade? Powerful. This wheel does not stop on a dime, like our other wheels. It is so heavy that the momentum it has is perfect for spinning large quantities of single or plying with thread. But it is not designed for stop-and-start fine tune or embellished work.
